Description

An interesting original oil painting of a lady with her eyes closed superimposed over the image of another lady by artist Millicent Lisle Woodforde painted in 1906. The painting has the original reference grid lines used by the artist and is signed and dated 1906. Though the sitter of this painting is unknown, Woodforde was an accomplished artist and best known for her portraits of Gustav Holst and his wife. The Holst portrait is displayed in the National Gallery.
She studied at Herkomer’s Art School in Bushy Herts in 1900 and later at Academies Colarossi and Grande Chaumiere in Paris 1904-5.
This painting is 68cm x 49cm, it is oil on canvas, but the canvas is unstretched and will be shipped rolled.

Condition
The condition is good. Because of the way it has been stored there is some creasing to the canvas. The painting would benefit from being relined and stretchered.
