Description

Orinating from France and dated to the 1930s is this fabulous figural group which depicts two footballers of the time mid play. You don't have to be a fan of sport or football for that matter to appreciate this piece. Historically very interesting, just looking at the football players clothes and the skillful detailing of the modeling with a real feel of movement. Definitely an interesting piece on it's own merit regardless of the topic. What looks to be solid brass underneath is cold painted and has the look of aged bronze with verdigris. All mounted on a solid marble black base. Very good condition, only minor note is someone has etched slightly to the arm of one figure in a small area to see what the base metal was, it's not distracting and probably could be rectified but mentioned here for accuracy. Great size, ideal for Art Deco and sport enthusiasts.
