19th Century Turned wood tip Staff

Photos

Description

This seem to be a very rare tips staff of turned wood , probably oak, with wooden crown to the top that looks to have originally been gilded but is now has very little of that gilding left. Lovely quality and dating to the mid 19th century.

Aa tipstaff was used to touch someone on the shoulder either to press gang them on to a ship or for arresting for crimes

Size: 15 1/4” long
weight before packing 200g

The condition is very good apart from that ware to the gilding and a small chip to the crown it seems to be in nice antique condition.
