Unusual Spherical Scent Bottle & Stand

Description

The domed and hinged cover intricately worked in high relief with doves amongst scrolls, gilded internally with faceted internal stopper, the glass partitioned in three segments terminating to a floral motif, the whole having three chains to a ring for suspension, now suspended from a later associated silver plated stand.

Condition is superlative there are no flaws to report to the metal, glass or stand, the whole remaining in pristine order from the multi faceted stopper to the finely detailed doves, swooping amongst the foliage.

Similar to Victorian period chatelaine, pomander or scent flask, this exquisite phial differs in that it is purely spherical, is half glass and half metal, has no holes to its body to release scent, and would have proved more troublesome to hang from the waist, making it unusual for its class. Unmarked, it may well have been commissioned as a standalone piece whilst the later stand is hallmarked for Sheffield 1986, now complimenting the bottle, letting it swing in its own pomp.

Of the highest quality, there are genuinely very few scent bottles that can match this example for its quality, rarity or originality, making it the ultimate boudoir companion.
