Superb Victorian solid camphorwood campaign trunk. With original brass strapping, corner brasses, padlock hasps and the lovely original heavy brass lifting handles. With a  working Bramah lock with key. With the brass name plate engraved 'M.D.'   One of the nicest trunks I've ever had. Ideal for a stylish coffee table.
These trunks were always of a very solid construction with strengthening brass strapping as they were to be transported around the world on military campaigns, and camphorwood was used as it was an oily wood that helped repel water and the aroma deterred woodworm and moths
