A Fine Late 17th Century Yorkshire Derbyshire Backstool / Chair


A fine example with good dark oak colour attributed to the South Yorkshire / Derbyshire region (c.1780-1820) Raised on turned front legs united by stretchers supporting original plank seat with superb knotty character.


The definitive back crests with richly carved voluted scrolls, cross hatching and acorn pendants. The uprights with scrolled terminals and split spindle appliques.
Solid condition with excellent patina. Old repair to seat, one back leg has been tipped, minor repair to one cresting rail. general wear commensurate with age.
