Description

This is a 18th Century French Oak Spiral Staircase

Quite obviously it would take a great deal of know how and inspired work to turn this back into a usable staircase again but I am sure that as a decorative piece it has another Century or Two left in it.

The Staircase has a central pole, with slots cut in it to support the inner edge of each stair, each of the stairs except for the bottom one has carved out underneath probably to help reduce the weight I would think

The pole is about 9” across and 110” high, it has 10 slots in total, 3 and then 7. There are 7 steps which are at the longest measurement 53” long, 14” wide and 9” high.

As to condition, the wood is Oak it has been attacked by all wood boring insects known to man, but there is still a lot of heavy hard wood left, the woodworm etc. is long dead, some of the lugs which slot into the post are broken
