17th Century Carved Oak Court Cupboard, Cottage Size Livery Cupboard

This is an old and charming rustic piece of carved oak furniture, the top section has a cupboard enclosed by a single door and the lower section has an under-tier
The top is supported on either side by barley twist turned columns, this theme is carried down to the lower section where 4 such columns form an arched framed front
The cupboard has carved borders, the sides are carved with lozenge patterns and the panel on the front door is the traditional tree of life pattern
This piece dates from around 1690, this is reflected in its condition, the metal lock is a replacement, but it has a working key
Though sound, the cupboard has suffered wood worm, this is historic and is quite dead and it has been treated to make sure
This is a very sturdy and attractive piece with a wonderful patina

The cupboard is 50” high, 41” wide and 18” deep
