Description

French Gothic Wrought Iron Manor House Fire Surround

The stand is very large and heavy, it dates from the early 19th century and comes from a Brittany Manor House
This is a very unusual piece, it has been made for a large fire and has various hooks and soup bowl holders, it comes from a time when the fire did more than heat the room it was used for all sorts of cooking processes
The decorative iron work seems to have a crest of arms in the centre, incorporating the letter L, it is decorated with fleur des lys
The fireplace or ‘ensemble de feu’ is 65” high, 63” wide and 15” deep
