WORLDWIDE SHIPPING!
This is a classic Hamilton open-face railroad pocket watch, made in Pennsylvania, USA circa 1915. Despite its age, this pocket watch is still in excellent condition and is a historical gem! It would make it a perfect gift or collectors’ addition.
DIAL: The white enamel dial has bold Arabic numerals with outer sixty-minute divisions. The dial has steel blued hands and a subsidiary second’s dial at the six. The dial is signed Hamilton in the upper centre.
MOVEMENT: The movement has five adjusted positions and 21 jewels (Cal 992). It has a compensated balance and regulator. The movement is signed: Hamilton Watch Co. Lancaster PA and numbered 1294788.
The movement is currently functioning well, but due to its antique nature, we cannot guarantee precise accuracy.
CASE: The watch lies in a gold-filled security screw case. The curvette is engraved Nawc (North America Watch Company), Security, 10 Karat, Gold Filled, Railroad Model, Patented . The case is numbered 7225556.
Diameter: 54 mm Weight: 102.7g
Signed: Hamilton - Made in USA circa 1915
Please note: To set the time of watch you need to open the front screw back case and pull out the lever at the one and turn the winder to set the correct time. This method was done specially for the guards travelling on a train for the safety of the people, so that they could keep exactly the accurate time. Never pull on the winder as this can break the watch.
History of Hamilton: Hamilton was founded in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and by 1912 the first series of pocket watches was being produced aimed at railroad workers to reduce the number of accidents caused by different timekeeping devices of unreliable accuracy. During the Second World War, Hamilton stopped producing watches for the general public and focused on providing the US forces with over one million timepieces.
