Gold Filled Waltham Crescent Street Art Deco Pocket Watch USA Circa 1925
Original screw back and front gold-filled Waltham Cresent Street pocket watch, made by Waltham in USA in the 1920’s coming with a plastic ball to open the watch.
DIAL: The white enamel dial has black Arabic numerals with outer minute divisions. The dial has nice blued double spade hands and a subsidiary second’s dial at the six. The dial is signed in the upper centre: “Waltham USA”. The Dial shows a slight hair crack by the 12.
MOVEMENT: The high swan regulator anchor movement lever with a is signed: “Waltham Cresent Street, Mass 21 Jewels,” and numbered: 24605847. The movement is in great working condition however, we cannot guarantee accuracy for an antique watch.
CASE: The watch lies in a screw back and front gold-filled Art Deco case with a nice engraving and free monogram at the back. The inner side of the case is signed: “Keystone Watch Case” and numbered: 0627298. Please note, in order to change the hands, you would need to open it by the 2 and pull up the lever.
History: The “Crescent Street” engraving on a Waltham pocket watch refers to the movement’s grade name, not a personal inscription. Waltham named it after Crescent Street in Waltham, Massachusetts, where the factory was located. Crescent Street watches were known for their high quality, accuracy, and reliability, often meeting railroad standards for precise timekeeping. These movements commonly featured fine regulators, jewel bearings, and adjustments for accuracy. Collectors consider Crescent Street models premium-grade Waltham watches, though usually just below elite grades like the Vanguard or Riverside Maximus.
