Gold Filled Waltham Montgomery dial Pocket Watch USA Circa 1925
Original screw back and front gold-filled Waltham Montgomery dial pocket watch, made by Waltham in USA in the 1920’s coming with a plastic ball to open the watch.
DIAL: The white enamel dial has large black Arabic numerals with outer minute divisions in a Montgomery style (See below), featuring individual minute numbers from 1 to 60 around the outer edge of the dial. The dial has nice, blued hands and a subsidiary second’s dial at the six. The dial is signed in the upper centre: “Waltham”.
MOVEMENT: The anchor movement lever is signed: “Waltham Nine Jewels, USA” and numbered: 30460765. The movement is in great working condition and just came back from the watchmaker. However, we cannot guarantee accuracy for an antique watch.
CASE: The watch lies in a screw back and front gold-filled Art Deco case with plain back. The inner side of the case is signed: “Keystone Victory” and numbered: 4289144.
History of Montgomery Dial: A Waltham Watch Company watch with a Montgomery dial refers to a pocket watch fitted with a special railroad-style face designed for precise time reading. The Montgomery dial features individual minute numbers from 1 to 60 printed around the outer edge of the dial, with the hour numbers placed inside. This layout helped railroad workers read exact minutes quickly and accurately, reducing timing errors during train operations.
