Description
A fabulous George III mahogany writing table featuring a solid mahogany top over a long frieze drawer opening to a green baize writing surface which can be pushed back to reveal a central hinged baize-backed mirror flanked by two side opening drawers. Being original the mirror features some incredible foxing and aged wear, with gilt surround.Below the main drawer are two smaller front opening drawers, all with original brass drop handles and decorative escutcheons. The piece is raised on attractively tapered legs terminating in spade feet.
This is a superb piece in very good condition, structurally all in good order with just some light age related surface wear. One of the internal drawers to the left has a small split to the top but this is quite minor and the piece is overall in exceptional condition for its age.
