Description

Circa 1930, good pair of mahogany and red leather easy chairs by Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh, in the form of the Cockpen or Dalhousie chairs. The large back and saddle shaped seat have stylish piping on the edge. The 2 arms again with leather upholstery have small protruding sections of wood at the front which are shaped and chamfered. These are held in place by a stylish upright which is fixed to the side of the seat. The back legs are turned and slightly out swept. The front legs are square with a small kick towards the end of the foot and a reeded edge. There are stretchers beneath making the chairs quite sturdy. Clean pair of quality stylish chairs (12 available).
