Description

Circa 1870. A late Victorian burr walnut kidney shaped desk in the manner of ‘Gillows of Lancaster’. The shaped top with insert tooled and gilded green leather and wonderful burr walnut crossbanding with moulded fore-edge, the front with 3 shaped drawers on the top with original circular brass handle and back plate, on the left hand side there’s a bank of 4 drawers and on the right a single drawer over 3 faux drawers which conceals a cupboard, the back and the sides of this are polished with an open bookcase in the back, 3 faux drawers and shaped panels, the desk resting on an enclosed burr walnut plinth.
