Description

This is a mid Victorian Silver Vinaigrette with engraved decoration and decorative pierced grill, the original sponge is contained. A Vinaigrette was used to mask the unpleasant smells 19th century towns had with a fragrant perfume contained in the sponge. More images are available.

Made by Silversmith Frederick Marson and Hallmarked in the Birmingham Assay Office in 1868.

The Vinaigrette weighs 15g and measures 33mm x 23mm x 9mm.

The vinaigrette is in good condition with no damage.
