Early 19th century portrait of a military Officer. Old label verso identifies the Officer to be Edwin Mainwaring, who died in India, age 19. The painting has been sealed up at the back for a very long time, so I have not had it out. It appears to be painted in oils but I can't say for sure what it is painted on.
