Hall and Hume

Description

A rare set of pocket scales dating to around 1840. The scales have a nickel-plated tubular outer case with a blued steel clip for holding letters. The outer case is engraved 'John Greaves & Son' around the trademark diamond. The end cap unscrews to reveal the steel clip and spring mechanism which weighs letters up to 4 ounces. The outer case measures 8.6 cm in length. As can be seen in the photos, the scales are in excellent condition.
