RARE Museum Quality 4ft hand-painted licensee sign

Description
Provenance: Sourced locally.Content: Hand-painted
Scale: Impressive size, 4-foot (122cm) wide
Construction: wood panel, in a strong wood frame.
Description:
This is a museum standard piece. It is an oversized, hand-painted trade sign that was likely hung on the wall of a 19thC House at an intersection or "cross", possibly even near Dulverton, Somerset where it was found. The unusual placing of a comma suggesting that the proprietor was "John," of "Cross."
The Victorian type styles recall an era of independent cottage breweries. With its original frame and deep patina, this is a premier "statement piece" for historians, pub enthusiasts, or high-end interiors.
It is in 'barn-found' condition, so a bit dusty, and has the odd graze, and chip out of the frame. It also has worm, mainly on the back boards. This has been treated but may require further treating over time. The last photo shows the piece in the barn from where I sourced it.
