A stunning work depicting a summer meadow by Frank Spenlove-Spenlove (Scottish, 1864-1933). Signed and dated '1915' lower right.

Spenlove-Spenlove was born in Stirling, Scotland. He painted in both oils and watercolour, and was a member of the Royal College of Art, Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Institution and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. From 1886 he exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy, London. He was also known as an author. He was made an honoury member of the Belfast Art Society in June 1904.

This impasto work is of good proportions and full of verve and atmosphere with fluffy white clouds and dense foliage. Unframed.

There are some very small paint losses here and there and some craquelure (please see photographs, but generally the painting displays very well.
