This is a marvellous and rare to find Antique Corkscrew fitted with a Stanhope which is in working order with 4 views of Monaco, Monte Carlo and is in overall good condition with just a little age-related wear from handling and use.

Stanhopes are optical devices that enable the viewing of microphotographs and they were invented by Rene Dagron in 1857. He bypassed the need for an expensive microscope to view the microscopic photographs by attaching the microphotograph at the end of a modified Stanhope lens. The photo is the size of a pinhead and has to be held up to a light and close to one's eye to be able to view it.
