A rare 15thC Gothic English antique oak wood carving depicting the flagellation of Christ.Circa 1450-80.
Hewn from a single piece of timber.
The elongated arms of Christ and the naivety of the eyes of the figures in general and style of carving leads this to suggest English in origin rather than Flemish.
