Description

This is truly wonderful!
A fabulous and large carved oak corbel depicting a green man.
Green Men are primarily interpreted as a symbol of rebirth, representing the cycle of growth each spring.
Ours has the typical face peering from foliage with scrolls to his forelock and either side of his mouth.
The back has been hollowed to ease the weight of this substantial piece.
Condition - some surface wear commensurate with age. A later metal hanging bracket is attached verso. This carving does however display very well as per images.
