A superb Georgian Regency cut glass oil bottle

Photos

Description

A gorgeous cut glass oil bottle from the Georgian Regency period. This delightful example has an oval, shaped body with slice cutting to the shoulders and wrythen cutting to the lower half. There is a panel of cut hobnails to the waist, so typical of this period. The base is cut in octagonal petal shapes and there is a mushroom stopper. The flared collar repeats the petal motif and has a pouring lip to one side.
A wonderful Anglo/Irish example from the Georgian dining table, both practical and decorative. The bottle would probably have been for oil, but would serve well for any liquid condiment.
