Description

This stunning pair of cast solid silver candlesticks are modelled on a traditional Georgian design. Made in Sheffield 1938 by the illustrious William Hutton & Sons, they are heavy gauged and of excellent quality. They have shell and scroll decoration to a square shaped base. The stem with a circular knop. The capitals with the original detachable sconces. There are Full hallmarks struck to the side of each base and partial hallmarks struck to the sleeve of each capital. The date letters differ by a year on the candlesticks which happened quite often in retailing but they are a genuine pair.
A fine pair of candlesticks.

Hallmarks:

WH&S LD for William Hutton & Sons.
Sheffield Assay Mark.
Lion Passant.
Date letters "u" for 1938 and "w" for 1939.

Condition:

Very good
No dents.
No pin holes.
Excellent set of marks.

Dimensions:

Height: 14 cm high / 5.4 inches.
Base: 11.5cm x11.5xm / 4.4 x 4.4 inches.
