Description

This is a beautiful and rather unusual Mid-19th Century Dutch silver cigar box. Of rectangular form, the front engraved with bright-cut geometric designs, the back and sides with reeded decorations. The hinged lid opening to reveal a plain hallmarked interior.

Hallmarks:

Makers marks VG over JT.
Lion Passant second standard mark (833/100).
Minerva Head Duty Mark.
Date letter G for 1840.

Condition:

Very good.
Minor surface wear, commensurate with age.
