Description

This delightful silver and tortoiseshell pot pourri box or pomander was made by the celebrated William Comyns and is dated London 1910. Pomanders are very sought-after and this is an unusual example. Of circular form, the pierced lid with a tortoiseshell panel decorated with a ribbon-tied harp. The pull-off lid opening to reveal a silver gilt interior.

WC for William Comyns.
Date letter "p" for 1910.
London Assay mark.
Lion Passant.

Diameter: 6cm / 2.3 inches.
Height: 3 cm / 1.2 inches.

Condition:

Good.
Silver in good condition.
Base a little wavy on a very small section..
No loss to the pique work or pierced decorations.
