Description

A fine quality Georgian London bracket/table clock of neat proportions. An ebonised case with the original finish and brass carrying handle to the pad top. Brass case edging and around the break-arch dial surround. Side sound fretwork and standing on bun feet. An arched painted dial with the original finish and strike/silent to the top. Well made gilt brass hands and signed to the dial 'Thos Moss London 309'. A fine quality 8-day duration twin fusee mechanism with border engraving and signed by the maker. Hour bell striking. The original pendulum transportation lock and winding crank key. The original key to the front and rear opening doors.

Thomas Moss worked in London from 1775 and died in 1827, he was a member of the Clockmakers company in 1786. This example dates to circa 1805.

This clock has come from a private collection from a titled Gentleman and is in fine original condition.
