Description

A good early 18th century English lantern clock by Thomas Moore of Ipswich. A well engraved dial centre and silvered chapter ring signed by maker with the original single hand. Engraved front fretwork panel with matching sides. A hoop and spike to the rear. A rope driven 30 hour original anchor escapement mechanism. Hourly bell striking.Thomas Moore of Ipswich is a noted maker and illustrated and documented in Loomes 'Lantern Clocks & Their Makers' book on page 244. This is a good original example and not to be confused with reproduction ones signed by this maker!
