A GWR Twin Fusee Bracket / Table Clock

Description

An English Victorian twin fusee bracket clock made for GWR. A mahogany case with carved detailing to the front and brass cast side handles. Brass sound fretted side panels with silk backing. A cast brass bezel with convex glass. A glass back door. A convex dial with blued steel 'moon' hands. A quality double fusee mechanism striking the hours on a bell of 8-day duration. The original pendulum transportation lock and winding key. The original GWR 545 numbered plaque on the case inside base. Circa 1850

Great Western Railway used many clocks at stations, normally round dial wall examples. This is quite rare being a bracket/table clock and is likely to have been on display in a boardroom.
