Description

A quality drop dial fusee wall clock. A mahogany case with choice flame veneers and a cast bezel surround. Convex glass to the domed dial. A 12" painted dial signed ' Jas Pearce Bruton' with blued steel 'moon' hands. A side door and an opening bottom door. Fine brass inlaid decorations to the base panel. An 8-day duration timepiece fusee mechanism. Circa 1830.

James Pearce of Bruton is recorded in A J Moores 'The Clockmakers of Somerset' book as working in Bruton from 1830-1840. The Pearce family of clockmakers are also recorded in Batcombe, Chard, Martock and Crewkerne.
