Description

A late Regency/William IV period mahogany English bracket/table clock. A stepped champfer top with brass edging. Brass inlays to the case front and standing on bun feet. Brass side sound fretting with silk backing and gilt side handles. A cast brass bezel to the original finish dial (camera flash and shadow on the dial!) with very well made blued steel hands with graduated circles. An 8-day duration twin fusee mechanism striking the hours on a bell. A pendulum transportation lock and the original crank winding key. The original key for the side opening bezel and back door.


Thomas Iorns of Alcester is recorded in Loomes 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of The World' book as working from 1828-1868. This example dates to circa 1830-35.

This clock has come from a private collection from a titled Gentleman and is in good original condition.
