Description

A fine French striking carriage clock by the premier makers, Drocourt. An enamel dial with blued steel 'moon' hands. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the 1/2 hours and hours on a bell. The original lever escapement visible through the oval top glass. A superb gilded and engraved case. Push button repeating. A serial number of 7448 and the DC stamp to the case backplate. A nice period winding key. Circa 1875.
Alfred Drocourt, and his son Pierre, had workshops in Paris and in Saint-Nicholas-d'Aliermont. Pierre Drocourt was exhibiting in the 1860's and Alfred was exhibiting in 1880 and 1889 and the won may awards.
