Description

A good quality Margaine French striking & repeating carriage clock. An enamel dial with 'moon' blued steel hands. A retailers name 'PAGE KEEN & PAGE, PLYMOUTH' to the dial. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours and 1/2 hours on a gong. Push button repeating. A lever escapement. The Margaine mark to the mechanism and numbered 3795. Circa 1890.

Francois Margaine worked in Paris, he was known for producing fine quality carriage clocks. Along with Drocourt and Jacot he is regarded as the best of the makers.
