Description

A superb Victorian burr walnut inlaid davenport. There is a stationery section to the top with various compartments and carved covers and a brass gallery. It has a serpentine inlaid fall with quality green tooled leather and working lock and key. Inside it has a maple interior with three small drawers and arcadian pigeon holes.
It has a serpentine body with carved scroll decorative supports to the front. To the right hand side it has an arched inlaid door cloaking four graduated drawers with bulls eye turned handles.
To the left there is a matching blank door. It sits on four turned cup bun feet with original china working castors.
This is a very good example of this type of furniture with good burr veneer and unusual to have a serpentine body as they are normally square.
