Description

A Victorian Walnut Globe Wernicke Bookcase. These bookcases are usually found in oak so it's nice to find a good example in Walnut. There are five section to this American design stacking bookcase. There is a drawer to the base with a stretcher bar bearing the uk registration date for 1896.
Each section retains it's original plastic Globe Wernicke abel, reeded uprights and rounded corners. The top section has really nice ribbon carving to the centre and top corners joined by a bead moulding. Each handle and knob has a lovely mother of pearl roundel to the centre. This bookcase is in excellent condition with no woodworm and has a pleasing warm walnut colour.
