Description

Here we have a wonderful Victorian musical box playing eight airs. When I bought this box it had been serviced therefore works very well. The box has all it's original wood grain finish and the top has musical instruments painted into the centre.
It sits on four block feet. To each side there are carrying handles. It has a steel mechanism and the comb has all it's teeth. There are three polished bells topped with a painted flower finial.
There are three striking painted butterflies on steel pins. There is a lifting glass door covering the movement.
To the inner lid it has it's original airs listing sheet, which is quite unusual as many lose them over time. The paper list showing people enjoying merriment and stating this box was made in Switzerland leading me to believe it was made by the famous Freres Family.
This musical box is in good original condition and provides that evocative sound most associated with the Victorian era. This box also benefits form have a working lock and key to stop unwanted winding!
