Description

A stunning rare mahogany Gillows writing table. This table is of the highest quality manufacture. Constructed from fine quality timber and veneers. It has ebony sting inlay to most surfaces. The green leather appears to be original with acanthus gilding tying in with it's age, as this design decoration can be seen on many items of furniture dating from this period.
The side supports both terminate with lovely out swept legs all having beautifully cast brass castors. To the top of the supports there are two quality brass scrolls. To the back there are further quality brass decoration. This design gives you the option to have this piece in the centre of the room or against a wall. The upper section has two long drawers to the front with inkwells. Further round there are two lift up stationery compartments for pens etc. These are both topped by brass balustrade gallery.
At either end just below the top there are additional writing slides with brass pulls. The quality of this piece is without doubt, but just to confirm this it's stamped Gillows to the righthand drawer. All the castors work well and moves with ease a fine piece from period.
