A Mid 20th Century French Ebonised Bureau Plat or Writing Table.

This elegant writing table has an ebonised finish and luxurious ormolu mounts, such as the tables made at the time by leading makers such as Maison Jansen in Paris. The combination of the black surface and gilded mounts is the epitome of classic style.

The table has three drawers in the frieze and retains its original key. The top of the table is inset with a tan leather writing surface with gilt tooling and this is also used on the pull out writing slides to each side. The leather has acquired a fine colour and patination through use and age. Standing on fluted, tapering legs with ormolu toes.
