An Unusual Early 19th Century Italian Sofa with Original Paint.

This sofa or settee retains its sophisticated, original white painted and parcel gilt finish. The back has a fine raked angle to it and both the upper rail and the apron feature repeating gilt paterae and diamond motif decoration. The ends of the arm supports have acanthus leaf detailing and below that are carvings of swans with gilt detail. The knees of the legs have gilt foliate detailings, standing on beautifully carved lion's paw feet
