A 19th Century Italian Walnut Commode with Lions Paw Feet.

This is a great piece of furniture in the Empire style but made in Italy in the mid 19th century. It is veneered in finely figured walnut which is bookmatched across the entire front of the piece, flowing vertically from top to bottom. The sides are also veneered in the same way and the walnut used is of exceptional quality. Having three drawers, the lower two drawers inset in to the body of the piece and flanked by two columnar pilasters with ormolu capitals and bases. The neoclassical laurel wreath escutcheons on the piece are also in ormolu. It Stands very well on unusually tall ebonised paw front feet. It also retains its original finely figured, white and grey veined marble top.
