Description

A rare copper milk churn from Ambrosia, the Devon company famous for its Devon custard and rice pudding. Started in 1917, this churn dates from the early part of the company's history and is embossed with the company's name and place of business, Lapford in Devon. The churns were used for the collection of milk from the local herds of Devon Ruby Red dairy cows and even today, all the milk comes from local farms.

Most milk churns are aluminium and this is a lovely example of an earlier copper churn. It has been well used and, as can be seen from the images, has some dents and knocks in the body. This is all to the good as it represents a functional piece of agricultural history and weighs in at 30 lbs

Height: 25" (63.5 cm)
Diameter: 14.5" (34.5 cm)
The diameter of the lid is 12.5" (32 cm)
