Antique Georgian 3 Pillar Extending Dining Table

Description
A superb antique Georgian figured mahogany 3 pillar extending dining table of outstanding scale and elegant timeless design. This fine English dining table stands upon three reeded pedestal bases with swept sabre legs and the original brass capped castors. The beautifully figured mahogany top displays a rich warm colour and attractive natural patina with elegant rounded corners and exceptional proportions throughout. Fitted with two original leaves the table extends to an impressive size comfortably seating up to 12 people, making it ideal for grand dining rooms and large scale entertaining.
An especially desirable feature of this table is that it separates into two individual console tables, offering excellent versatility for modern interiors. This clever design allowed large Georgian dining tables to be stored neatly against a wall when not in use while also serving as elegant side or serving tables.
Extending dining tables such as this became highly fashionable during the Georgian period as formal dining and entertaining grew increasingly important within elegant English homes. The triple pedestal design allowed for excellent stability while still giving diners generous leg room.
A highly desirable and practical antique dining table offering wonderful colour, scale and classic Georgian elegance.
