An outstanding example of a very large carafe or bottle shaped vase by Poole Pottery.

Designed by Alfred Read in c.1953 for Poole's much celebrated 'contemporary' range of decorative wares.

This splendid vase is absolutely of the period, with a terrific 1950's / mid-century look and feel.

Features a wonderful hand-painted stylised / abstract design of foliage set against a pale / cream coloured ground. The execution of the brushwork is faultless.

A very imposing piece, dwarfing a drinks can, as shown. Approx 30 cms tall.

Fully marked to the underside with black Poole stamp, impressed 691 shape mark along with a painted 'YFI' pattern mark.

A splendid piece that would make a super addition to any Poole pottery or mid century themed ceramic collection.

Highly recommended. Presented in mint condition with no faults.
