Description

A Stunning & Huge Vintage Japanese Fish Bowl / Planter.

An exceptional opportunity for the Interior Designer or someone seeking a very special planter for a favoured plant.

This wonderful and vast Japanese bowl (originally devised as a fish tank) dates to around the first half of the 20th century. The decoration is glorious and noteworthy in that it is hand-painted throughout (no transfer printing at all) and all completed in vivid and intense shades of underglaze cobalt blue.

Formal geometric devices around the rim, giving way to large panels containing landscape / lakeland scenes and flowering prunus and peony, all interspersed with rambling and fruiting Paulownia boughs.

The vast yet elegant porcelain body is finely potted and of squat / rounded form. A knockout piece for an Asian interior or for the horticulturist seeking a very special planter or jardiniere for a prized plant.

This unique pot is not to be missed - planters of this size, quality and interest do not come around that often....much nicer than something new from the garden centre!

Will be packed with utmost care to ensure safe delivery.
