'Edge of the Wood' after Ivon Hitchens (British. 1893 - 1979).

A great image by this much loved and highly regarded landscape painter of the Modern British era. The print dates to around the 1960's - 1970's and is on to laminated hardboard, with a satin finish.

These somewhat unorthodox prints were produced by various galleries of the time and are now increasingly popular. The reproduction shows the brushstrokes in sharp detail and the colour saturation on this particular example is excellent with minimal fading.

The frame is the period '60's original with a Medici Society label verso. The paint of the frame flaking in several places....mainly confined to the upper rear edge, so not too visible when on display, but with a little weathering to the front corners in places, commensurate with age.
