18thc highly decorative Sinhalese traders chest

Description
A mid 18thc highly decorative Sinhalese (Sri Lankan) hardwood, brass & studded traders chest.This type of chest would have been used by traders as they travelled to different areas selling their wares.
The top is decorated with a design of brass studs and in each corner and square brass metalwork. The top is hinged with two very large decorative and engraved brass hinges.
The front panel is covered with brass studs & brass metalwork pierced & stamped with various designs. There is a very decorative large brass and pierced central lock plate(not lockable).
The punched metalwork is typical design used on furniture if this period.
Inside the chest is a candle box and also a secret compartment. Underneath are three drawers also decorated with the studded metalwork.
It is supported by four large bun feet added at a later date, but this has been sympathetically done.
Each side has a large carrying handle and the brass metalwork continues from the design on the front. Both the sides and back have a red paint finish.
This piece is highly decorative & would fit into a period setting but equally would look stylish in a modern property maybe against a white background.
This chest is of good condition and can go straight into a property.

Deliveries can be arranged by us, using specialist antiques couriers and shippers both within the UK and overseas.
Most UK deliveries will be made within 14 days, some may take longer but we would advise of this at the time of purchase.

Any overseas delivery timescales are discussed with the buyer at time of purchase.
RETURNS
Customers purchasing items over the internet can be assured that we offer a 14 day returns policy in the unlikely event you are not satisfied with your purchase.
We will issue a full refund less the RETURN transport/courier costs once the item is returned back to us in the same condition as when it left us and with the same courier, the return fee should be the same as the delivery fee and no more, estimate for a general piece of furniture within mainland UK £70 - £100 plus vat.
