Description

An unusual and superb quality early 19th Century Chinese display cabinet / bookcase, the wonderful pagoda top with a mini pagoda with Chinese figures inside, the front of the top decorated with carved and applied birds and flowers with fret work at the bottom, the sides having a carved and applied dragon design, the front of the cabinet having a mirror back, the three shelves inside with carved and applied decoration on the shelve fronts, the same with the uprights too, with turned columns either side at the front and at the top lovely carved hanging decoration, the bottom of the cabinet having a pierced and carved gallery decorated with dogs of foo, carved and applied panels to the sides, supported on carved dragons claw feet. Circa 1830.
