Description

A pair of 19th Century walnut and marquetry pier cabinets by the London maker Edwards & Roberts, having a wonderful figured top above a frieze decorated with ormolu beading and decorative floral marquetry inlay, the single panelled glazed door opening to reveal two fixed shelves inside, further ormolu beading around the outer edge of the glass, the front of the cabinets, including the door frame, profusely decorated with floral marquetry inlay, the columns either side having lovely quality figurative ormolu mounts, raised on a shaped and inlaid plinth base. Circa 1860.
