Description

The simple design of this English walnut desk is brought to life by beautiful matching veneers to the slope and the drawer fronts. It has two drawers beneath a fitted interior and rounded, tapering legs of solid walnut. The handles are of turned wood.

On the back it bears the Utility mark, dating it to c.1950, and it is a fine example of the kind of design and craftsmanship that companies such as Reynolds of Ludlow could achieve in difficult post-war conditions. It has no maker's label but an identical desk is featured and attributed on p.156 of David Joel's 'The Adventure of British Furniture' (1953).
